Trade in your old Kindle to Amazon and get a better upgrade for a much lower price

A new Kindle is going on sale this week that includes an upgrade not previously offered by Amazon.

If your current Kindle isn't looking too hot, now's the time to upgrade to something a little more modern. Amazon just unveiled its latest and greatest e-readers, which include a refresh of the basic version and more power for the popular Paperwhite.

These devices are great upgrades, but if you're looking for something completely new, it's worth checking out the Colorsoft, which became available this week. As the name suggests, this latest device from the online retailer ditched the traditional black-and-white screen, replacing it with a much more vibrant option.

This means you can browse through Amazon's vast library of bestsellers and enjoy the covers in their full color palette. You can also view family photos and take notes using color highlighters.

Amazon says it has designed the 7-inch screen to “deliver rich, paper-like colors” with Colorsoft, also incorporating a new nitride LED light guide that, when combined with Amazon’s unique algorithms, improves color reproduction and increases brightness. This should mean images will look bright and detailed when you settle in for an evening read.

If you've always wanted a color Kindle, this is the perfect addition to Amazon's selection, but it comes at a price.

The entry-level Kindle, which is now available in stylish Macha (green) as well as black, starts at £94.99, but if you go for the Colorsoft, you'll be looking at a whopping £269.99. Whew!

This is a significant amount, but there are opportunities to save.

Amazon is currently offering a 20% discount when you trade in your old e-reader, meaning you can knock over £50 off the price of the Colorsoft.

In addition to these updates, a new Kindle Scribe is also on the way, bringing a new design, improved display, and an improved pen to this advanced device.

Deliveries will begin in December.
