China’s National Space Administration has published a series of new records showing the landing of the Mars rover Zhuzhong and its movement on the Martian surface. For example, the first video shows the process of reentry of the descent vehicle into the atmosphere. We can see the deployment and subsequent dropping of the braking parachute, the operation of the navigation system and the moment of activation of the landing platform engines.
Two other recordings show the movement of the Zhujun on Mars. They were made with a special autonomous camera placed by the rover on the surface of the Red Planet. The first video shows Zhuzhong pulling back. In the second video, the wheeled vehicle is next to the descent platform.
In addition to video, CNSA has also published an audio recording obtained by the onboard microphone “Zhuzhun. This was taken at the moment of its descent from the descent platform to the surface. We can hear a number of muffled sounds. These are caused by the internal mechanisms of the vehicle, as well as by the wheels rubbing against the ramp and the Martian surface.
