New Sky Alternative Offers You a Much Cheaper Way to Watch TV and Netflix

Sky has just announced an alternative way to watch TV at a much more affordable price.

Craving Sky TV and Netflix, but not wanting to pay the usual high monthly fees? There's now a new alternative to the traditional satellite dish, and it's a lot cheaper than you might expect. The Sky Stream device has been available for some time, allowing you to stream content to the big screen via the internet rather than the standard terrestrial signal. Now Sky has confirmed that it has slashed the price of the device, with a new package called Sky Essential TV.

This £15 plan includes a host of live and on-demand channels, including Sky Atlantic, plus access to Netflix and Discovery+.

Of course, this low price means that some channels like Sky Max, Sky Documentaries and Sky Witness won't be available, but it's still a great way to get started with Sky. If you want to add extras like Sky Sports or Cinema, you can add them later, but they'll cost extra.

For those who don’t know, Sky Stream is a compact, self-installing box that gives you full access to live and on-demand channels over the internet. It also offers personalised recommendations, a convenient way to save content for later viewing, and includes pre-installed apps like Disney+ and Apple TV+.

If the £15 offer isn't enough for you, you can upgrade to another new tariff called Sky Ultimate TV, which will cost you £22 a month.

This package includes everything from Sky Essential TV, but adds more channels such as Sky Max, Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, Sky Showcase and Sky Witness, plus premium channels including U&alibi, Comedy Central, U&GOLD and National Geographic.

Speaking about the new additions, Ben Case, Managing Director of Sky TV, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing our world-class TV experience to even more people for one low price every day with Sky Essential TV. Our new TV package makes it easier than ever to access the hottest, best-selling shows from Sky, Netflix and discovery+, especially as the Christmas TV season gets underway.”

Before you hit the buy button, there are a few things to consider. Firstly, you'll need a good internet connection (around 50 Mbps or better) to enjoy the best Sky Stream experience, and you'll need to sign up for a 24-month contract.
