    A one-year-old died after his drunk driving mum crashed while allegedly racing the boy's father at 120mph, police say.

    Lauren Prescia, 23, allegedly smashed her Hyundai Sonata into a concrete marquee while on her way to a custody exchange with her son, Royce.

    Royce was reportedly ejected from the vehicle while still strapped into his car seat due to massive impact of the smash which happened in Las Vegas, US.

    The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived to the scene tat 7:30pm on Sunday and found Prescia there with bloodshot eyes.

    According to the arrest report,  "An officer could smell that she was emitting a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage for her person".

    Another officer is said to have noticed her speech was slurred, the report stated.

    Royce's father, Cameron Hubbard-Jones, told police he was driving on the same road as Prescia – who had "told him she was going to beat him home and began speeding".

    Cameron Hubbard-Jones told police as Prescia passed his car he told her to "slow down because she had his son in the car with her".

    The father told officers he witnessed the crash and ran over to Royce who was still strapped into his car seat, reports news.com.au.

    Royce sustained severe head trauma and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1.10am, the arrest report read.

    Police said the mother had told them she had drank two 12-ounce White Claw alcohol hard seltzers around 4pm.

    A search warrant of her car revealed she was travelling at a speed of 191km/h – around 120mph – with the throttle at 100% five seconds before the crash.

    Police reports found two-and-a-half seconds before the smash, the car had reached a speed of 194kmh.

    Prescia was arrested on charges of felony reckless driving; driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death; and abuse, neglect or endangerment of a child.

    She is being held in the Clark County jail without bail.
