UFO hunter Scott C Waring is certain aliens have built a city on Mercury and claims to have official NASA photos to back his bizarre claim.
Although Mercury’s scorching surface is not conducive to life as we know it, an alien hunter believes it could be home to an entire city of extraterrestrials. According to prominent ufologist Scott C Waring, NASA’s Mariner 10 spacecraft photographed a bizarre anomaly in the Tolstoj quadrangle region of the planet in 1974. Sharing the discovery on his blog ET Data Base, Mr Waring dubbed it “100 percent proof of life”.

The UFO hunter said: “This photo is not a black and white photo, but an infrared photo.
“The Mariner 10 had an ‘eight-position filter wheel’.
“Each filter allows the camera to take a different kind of photo.
“Infrared allows you to see things the human eye cannot.”

In Mr Waring’s opinion, the supposed alien city was likely built thousands of years ago.
However, he said this is of little importance because aliens do not age in the same way humans do.
He said: “Their anatomy is totally under their control, allowing them to decide what age to be, alter their appearance and more.
“So building a structure so massive… although it may take hundreds of years… it’s of little consequence of them.”
NASA’s Mariner 10 probe orbited the innermost planet of the solar system in 1974.
The robotic spacecraft was the first man-made orbiter to perform flybys of multiple planets, having orbited both Mercury and Venus.
Armed with TV cameras, the probe also carried magnetometers, infrared radiometers, particle telescopes and other scientific instruments.
Mr Waring said: “I took the original photo and enlarged it +200 per cent allowing this incredible view of the surface of Mercury.
“I wonder if any of the doubters or sceptics have tried this?”

However, there is no evidence of life past or present on Mercury.
According to NASA, the planet’s harsh conditions make it inhospitable to life as we know it.
The US space agency said: “The temperatures and solar radiation that characterize this planet are most likely too extreme for organisms to adapt to.”
But there could be an explanation for why Mr Waring believes there is a city on the planet – pareidolia.
Pareidolia is a bizarre trick of the mind that causes people to see recognisable shapes and patterns where they do not exist.
Astronomer Larry Sessions told EarthSky.org: “Seeing recognizable objects or patterns in otherwise random or unrelated objects or patterns is called pareidolia.
“It’s a form of apophenia, which is a more general term for the human tendency to seek patterns in random information.
“Everyone experiences it from time to time.
“Seeing the famous man in the Moon is a classic example from astronomy.”
