End of the world: Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan ‘begins final countdown’

THE END OF THE WORLD could be just around the corner as US President Donald Trump fulfilled a prophecy to “begin the final countdown to the return of Jesus,” according to the sensational claims of Biblical investigators.

Israel and the United Arab Emirates have reached a landmark deal to normalise relations, with controversial plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank scrapped in a “historic” breakthrough towards peace. Until now Israel has had no diplomatic relations with Gulf Arab countries and Palestinian leaders were reportedly taken by surprise, with President Mahmoud Abbas saying the deal amounted to “treason”. President Trump, who helped broker the deal, called the agreement between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan “a truly historic moment”.

It marks only the third Israel-Arab peace deal since Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948, after Egypt and Jordan, and the Bible reportedly says it is up to one man to create lasting order in the Middle East.

The Messianic Prophecy Bible Project has claimed during a feature that “this man’s peace plan will begin the final countdown to the return of Jesus”.

Referring to the Book of Daniel, the group believes the Old Testament prophesied this exact moment.

Chapter nine tells of the Prophecy of Seventy Weeks given to Daniel by the angel Gabriel in response to Daniel’s prayer for God to act on behalf of his people and Jerusalem.

The angel informs him that 70 “weeks” have been decreed for them, and then gives a detailed but cryptic description of those weeks.

It reads: “Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgressions, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.”

Seventy sevens (70 times seven), therefore, is said to represent a period of 490 years before the prophecy would be fulfilled, according to the group.

According to Bible investigators, 483 of these years have already passed – which also represents the time between the rebuilding of Jerusalem during the Second Temple period and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

They say the prophecy is especially relevant today as nations in the Middle East begin to restart stalled peace negotiations.

Many believe this leaves the final seven-year span that has yet to be completed and will now be fulfilled in the last days during the Tribulation Period.

According to the group, Trump, therefore, plays a key role in bringing about the final countdown before Jesus Christ can return.

Daniel reportedly describes that time in chapter 9:27.

He wrote: “He [the ruler at that time] will confirm a covenant with many for one seven.

“In the middle of the seven he will put an end to sacrifice and offering.

“And at the temple, he will set up an abomination that causes desolation.”

When Jesus was asked about the End Times, he referred to the above verse in Matthew 24.

According to the Messianic Prophecy Bible Project: “When we examine current events in the light of Bible prophecy, there can be no doubt that we are living at the end of the age.

“The necessity remains to scrutinise world happenings so we may be prepared for whatever is coming, especially since recent attempts at peace in the Middle East may be a precursor for the fulfilment of Daniel’s final seven-year period.

“This peace covenant will begin the 70th week in Daniel’s prophecy, the final seven-year stretch before the return of Jesus.”

But this prophecy has proved to be notoriously difficult for readers despite it having been the subject of “intense exegetical activity,” and scholars are divided over its meaning.
