A woman has been praised for her ‘petty’ revenge on a colleague who kept stealing her lunch from the office fridge – but some people think she went too far.
A woman has been hailed for serving up ‘petty revenge’ after her colleague repeatedly pinched her lunch from the office fridge. She detailed how her meals began to vanish “mysteriously” from the kitchen at work, leaving her without anything to eat at lunchtime.
Out of frustration and hunger, she decided it was time to teach the food thief a lesson they wouldn’t forget. Sharing her cunning plan on Reddit, she said: “I tried labelling my food, hiding it in the back of the fridge, even bringing super spicy food to deter them, but nothing worked.
“Finally, I had enough. I started bringing in containers filled with random, disgusting stuff to mess with them.”
One day, she disguised a can of dog food as chili leftovers in a container. Another time, shemashed cauliflower and added bright green food colouring.
But questioning if she had gone too far, she added: “My masterpiece was a container of jello mixed with tuna. I labelled everything as usual and waited. Sure enough, the thefts stopped within a week.

“No one confessed, but I overheard someone complaining about feeling ‘sick all day’ after lunch. I couldn’t help but smile. Am I the petty one here, or did they deserve it?”
Commenting on her post, one person advised: “One thing I learned way back is never complain or tell anyone that your food is being taken. The company won’t do anything and you will be the bad guy complainer. Plus you could get into trouble for [knowingly] trying to make someone sick.
“The sick person can’t complain without admitting theft and even if they do, you had plausible deniability for not knowing as you never said you knew.”
Another user chimed in with concerns about hygiene, saying: “What kind of monsters do this though? I’d be so grossed out to eat someone’s personal food they brought from home. Did they wash their hands while preparing it? Did some of their hair fall into it? Do they keep a clean house?

“My thoughts absolutely could not stomach someone else’s mystery lunches. I guess I can understand more the people that steal sealed lunches like frozen heater meals, but even then, why?”
They continued by questioning the motives behind such acts. They wrote: “Are they financially struggling or just greedy a***holes? Truly don’t get it and wish someone who steals lunches would comment and provide some insight into what makes them tick and why they do it. The thrill? Or just broke or lazy? ” A third concerned user highlighted potential health risks, stating: “Stealing someone’s lunch is a terrible thing to do. Some people have food allergies, and can’t eat take-away. Or they might be diabetic, and could be in serious trouble (hypoglycemia). They might be following religious guidelines.”
