Free Sky TV's rival has finally received a stunning update, but is it time for a change?

There's a new way to stream TV, and it's a little better.

Sky continues to lead the way in TV viewing. Not only does the company continue to offer its award-winning Sky Q set-top box, but customers can now choose from a range of streaming devices, including Sky Glass. This all-in-one 4K screen gives instant access to live and on-demand content, and comes pre-loaded with apps like Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+.

Below the display is a soundbar that will help improve the sound quality while watching your next TV series.

It's a reliable device, but you have to pay a monthly subscription to use it, which can make it a fairly expensive option.

Luckily, there is now a new way to stream content live, and it doesn't require you to pay any extra fees.

Launched for free earlier this year, the service is now built into a range of TVs from brands including Toshiba, Bush, Hisense and Panasonic.

Like Sky Glass, the platform uses the internet to beam shows to the big screen, and the amount of content available to watch has just received a much-needed boost.

At launch, there were only about 20 channels available, but now the number has increased to more than 40.

New viewing options include content from AMC Networks International UK (AMCNI UK), PBS America, GB News and QVC.

The new partnerships bring the total live streaming channel lineup to over 40 channels, seamlessly integrating with 74,000 hours of on-demand content from eleven different players.

HERE ARE ALL THE NEW CHANNELS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR FREE

TRUE CRIME – Ch. 37

LEGEND – Ch. 38

PBS America – Ch. 49

TRUE CRIME Xtra – Ch. 50

LEGEND Extra – Ch. 51

UK News – Ch 304

QVC – channel 451

QVC 2 – Ch. 453

New Sky Alternative Offers You a Much Cheaper Way to Watch TV and Netflix

Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Everyone TV, commented on the update: “These new collaborations mark an important milestone as Freely continues to take streaming to the next level, offering content for everyone and across a wide range of genres.

“From innovative storytelling to rich historical programming and exciting shopping experiences, we are excited to offer an increasingly competitive free viewing experience with these new channels and on-demand players. We look forward to continuing to collaborate across the industry, bringing even more entertaining and engaging content to Freely.”

So can Freely now match Sky Glass?

The honest answer is no. Yes, Freely offers recommendations, a TV guide, and the ability to pause live TV.

However, Sky Glass does offer the ability to provide fully personalised content recommendations, as well as an online playlist feature that allows you to save content for viewing at a later time.

Sky Glass also offers over 100 channels to watch, including premium services like Sky Sports and Cinema, and provides better integration with other streaming apps.

So Sky Glass is definitely superior, but Freely is slowly catching up – stay tuned.
