ELON MUSK has sparked an online frenzy after he suggested in a tweet the Great Pyramids of Giza were built by aliens, and a popular UFO researcher has now backed the bizarre claims.
The SpaceX CEO, 49, surprised his more than 37 million Twitter followers when he appeared to come out in support of conspiracy theories. Elon Musk, who is no stranger to bizarre Twitter tirades, said on Friday (July 31) it was obvious “aliens built the pyramids”. The unexpected message was retweeted more than 87,000 times and sparked a fierce debate between sceptics and purveyors of the alien theory.

One person tweeted: “Nobody could do that level of math to create a perfectly standing structure like this. Especially 3800 years ago lol.
“At the very least someone/something of rediculous intelligence had to have taught them/Commanded them to make it perfect. Human made structures fall down too much.”
And Egyptologist Sarah Parcak said: “Egyptologist here Elon who works on a royal pyramid site.
“They did not – Ancient Egyptians did + we even have papyri that are like live tweets of pyramid construction at Giza.

Elon Musk silenced over alien conspiracy in humiliating putdown
“Happy to share resources so you can get yourself educated.”
Since Mr Musk’s original tweet was published, UFO researcher Scott C Waring has explained why he believes the pyramids could have been built by aliens.
The Great Pyramids of Giza or the Great Pyramids of Khufu have long been a source of mystery and wonder for conspiracy theorists and historians alike.
Raised nearly 5,000 years ago on the sandy plains of Giza, outside modern-day Cairo, the tallest of the three pyramids stands about 456ft-tall (139m).
Mr Waring said: “I have to say, he is of course… correct.
“Located in Giza, Egypt, are three huge pyramids, almost untouched by time and estimate to have been built over 5,000 years ago.
“It’s an easy answer to come to because it’s the logical one.
“Even today with our advanced technology and inventions.”
In Mr Waring’s opinion, it would have been impossible for a large labour force to construct the pyramids without aid fro alien technology.

Search for aliens given HUGE boost following exoplanet study
He said: “The three pyramids of the Giza complex are aligned exactly with the position of three stars of the Belt of Orion.
“As the science of astronomy would not have been that developed thousands of years back, but aliens could do this.
“The perimeter of the Great Pyramid when divided by two times the height of the monument gives a number which exactly equal to pi, and it is matching till the 15th decimal place. But aliens could do it.”
There is, however, no evidence aliens have ever come close to the pyramids and sceptics have rejected all theories that involve UFOs and extraterrestrials.
According to Professor Matthew Peeples at Arizona State University, theories concerning the involvement of aliens in ancient history can be largely attributed to the influence of Hollywood as well as pseudoscience.
He said: “These ideas are not supported by scientific evidence, but they’ve become so prevalent that many people believe there must be something to them.
“To use the Great Pyramids in Egypt as an example, archaeologists have clearly shown how these structures fit in a broader tradition of smaller stone structures and earlier attempts at pyramid construction.
“The building technology is impressive, but we don’t need to invoke aliens to explain it.”
Mr Musk himself followed-up his original tweet with articles explaining the history of the pyramids, suggesting it was all done in jest.
Archaeologists now know the pyramids were constructed by a paid labour force, and not slaves.
The pyramids were built as tombs for the pharaohs, who were preserved and interned within, likely out of sheer reverence.
Dieter Wildung, a former director of Berlin’s Egyptian Museum, said: “The world simply could not believe the pyramids were built without oppression and forced labour, but out of loyalty to the pharaohs.”
