A Wayne County, Michigan man has become a millionaire after winning more than $1 million in lottery winnings by repeatedly using the same numbers, and says he now plans to go on an “extended family vacation.”

A 54-year-old man who asked to remain anonymous told the Michigan Lottery that winning the $1.3 million jackpot was a “dream come true.”

His winning ticket was selected on January 8.

He purchased this Lotto 47 ticket at a liquor store in Taylor, Michigan, southwest of Detroit.

“I've been using this set of numbers for four years,” the winner told the Michigan Lottery. “I scanned my ticket into the lottery app and saw the confetti falling.”

His winning combinations were 04-08-17-28-36-43. He did not explain how he came up with those numbers — or whether he plans to continue using them after winning the jackpot.

He described his win as “an amazing feeling that gives me and my family financial independence.”

The winner chose the lump sum payment option for his $901,000 jackpot, the Michigan Lottery said.

He intends to pay off his debts and go on a “long-awaited” vacation with his family.

The 2024 Lotto 47 jackpot was won by eight people, Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanne Shkreli said in a press release issued by the Michigan Lottery.

Lotto 47 costs $1 per game and draws are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Michigan Lottery website states that each player selects six numbers from one to 47.

The jackpot starts at $1 million and continues to grow until it is won.
