In the caption of the post Alison wrote: “The scariest post I’ve ever made. All for the sake of pay transparency. I started Monty’s Instagram to share cute pictures with my family and friends so that I didn’t have to flood my personal page. I was incredibly fortunate to find a community of people who loved watching Monty grow up and experience the world.

“When I started to take on paid gigs and creating content for brands, I honestly had zero idea how I was supposed to charge, what I was supposed to charge for, and how much my work was worth. This work space is not regulated, and talking about $ is very taboo in our culture.”

By being transparent, Alsion explained she hoped to convey that people liking, commenting, saving and sharing “directly translates to supporting out page”. It also allows people to have “frank conversations about pay”.

She also wants to be able to be “extremely honest” and for people to know that she would “never promote” something she didn’t personally like.

The Instagram post has received 1,329 likes, more than 100 comments and has been shared 84 times up to now. In the comment section Alison gave further information: “I’d like to also note that this does not include gifted partnerships we’ve had, and that Instagram is the only platform we are on, and it does not have the option to monetize our normal posts.

“This is purely brand partnerships and making videos for them as user generated content.” Several users thanked Alison for sharing this post and were supportive of her being transparent about how much Monty has earned from Instagram.

Another user added: “Thanks for sharing this and everything else you share with us! Good job Monty! And of course his mum.I wish my girls would help pick up some of the slack in the budget department.”

A third commented: “Love the transparency! The world of content creation is tough to navigate. Keep it up, you’re doing great. I also love seeing Monty in my feed.”

“Watching you build this page and community has been so inspiring. Incredible achievements in 2024 and your 2025 will be even bigger!”
