I tried out Apple's new iPhone – it's available now for an amazingly low price.

Apple has unveiled a new device called the iPhone 16e, which is significantly more affordable than the flagship iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models.

A new iPhone hits shelves today, making having a feature-packed smartphone more affordable. The all-new iPhone 16e was unveiled last week, with Apple promising impressive features for a price £200 less than its more expensive counterparts.

Mirror Online got their hands on the device last week and there's no doubt that it's a quality gadget. It has a premium design with Ceramic Shield glass and an aerospace-grade aluminum frame.

The soft matte texture on the back looks elegant and resists fingerprints. When you flip the iPhone 16e over, you'll see a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display that's perfect for watching TV shows, sending messages, or scrolling through TikTok.

The device also finally ditched the outdated Home button, with users now authenticating using a Face ID scanner hidden in a new notch.

Inside is an exceptionally powerful A18 processor that is not only very fast, but also provides access to Apple Intelligence.

This means your emails can be written for you and images can be edited in a jiffy, with features like Genmojis, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, and an improved Siri assistant.

It's worth noting that the 16e now outperforms the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 models, as those older devices will never have access to Apple Intelligence due to insufficient power.

Other features that impressed us include a decent 48-megapixel single-lens camera, long battery life, and extras like the ability to send SOS messages via satellite and accident detection.

It's a great phone, but it lacks some improvements, like Apple's clever Dynamic Island notch that adapts to display information as you use different apps and services, there's no MagSafe charging (which can be annoying), and the Ceramic Shield glass isn't the latest (and tougher) version found in Apple's more expensive devices.

The single rear camera isn't as good as the other iPhone 16 models, and you won't find the shutter button that's now found on its more expensive counterparts.

If you don't mind these additional restrictions, the iPhone 16e is worth considering, especially given the current deals.
